Summary

In 12 patients with bronchitis and evidence of bronchospasm, oral ephedrine over one week was not demonstrably superior to an inert tablet in its effect on several tests of ventilatory function. In all 6 patients subsequently given ephedrine by inhalation an improvement was observed.

The response to isoprenaline inhalation was not influenced by the prior oral administration of ephedrine.
